The Pod Gets Suited Up

The Pod Gets Suited Up

[Editor’s Note: Sam has the week off so I’m back behind the keys for this edition. He’ll be back next week! — Dan]

Suits: Not just for an announcement photo!

No, we haven’t been reliving the antics of Harvey Specter and Mike Ross with a Suits rewatch (recently). But if you’d permit us a few paragraphs be self congratulatory on the back of Chelsea’s 1-3 victory over Aston Villa in the FA Cup (recapped on Thursday’s pod), we’d like review the news we shared last week.

London is Blue has joined the Men in Blazers Media Network. It’s a combination of COURAGE and CHELSEA we couldn’t wait to share with those who’ve supported us over the last 9½ years. While Brandon’s tweet (amplified by Chelsea in America) serves as the inception of LIBP, we certainly drew inspiration from Davo, Rog, and the entire Men in Blazers team when thinking about the type of show we wanted to create for our fellow Chelsea supporters.

Never too serious with a desire to entertain, the Men in Blazers came into our lives, like they did for many other “Great Friends of the Pod” (GFOPs), in 2014 with both their podcast and nightly coverage of the World Cup on ESPN. Davo and Rog helped expand our love for the beautiful game, and provided us examples on how to cultivate and educate the American football (or “SOCCAH”) supporter.

But over the past 10 years, things have changed for both Men in Blazers and London is Blue. Men in Blazers became the leading independent voice for football/soccer coverage in the US. Meanwhile, London is Blue expanded from covering just the men’s team, to the entire club (women’s, academy, history, news). There is a kindred ambition and respect between Men in Blazers and London is Blue. They share our desire to produce content that educates and entertains, challenges and inspires, ultimately making your day even the tiniest bit brighter.

So here’s the start of something special with more to come in the weeks and months ahead. But one thing doesn’t change: London is Blue will be there, before and after every Chelsea match, to Keep the Blue Flag Flying High. Now just with a dash of Courage.

Best,

Dan

(Oh, and since people tended to enjoy my recommendations in the past, I’d guide you towards That Last Dinner Party’s Prelude to Ecstasy for a listen and Wim Wenders’ Perfect Days for a watch.)
